NRL - Using the Terminal Server

This article is to assist those who are unfamiliar with the setup of the Remote Access Servers. This will cover the basics in how to access network drives and the use of applications.

The applications available on the Terminal Server are as follows

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, Access & Outlook)

  • NRLord, InfoPC and Spectre

  • FastTrack

The applications that are not available are as follows:

  • Microsoft Teams

  • Zoom

These applications do not work correctly on the Terminal Server as it is not possible to pass-through your camera and microphone.

If you require the use of another program, please inform IT via a support ticket. This list will be updated as new applications are added.

Email & Outlook

Please advise IT through an IT Request if you need Outlook to be set up on the Terminal Server

Outlook on the Terminal Server is configured a little differently than on your work desktop. Each email is only downloaded when you need it, so the “preview” pane will not show any details as per the image below:

To read the email, you will need to double click on the email. This will then download the contents and you can now see the contents of the email:

If there are instructions you feel should be included that aren’t, please contact IT regarding these and we will include these as requested.
